USCIS Citizenship Application, Practice Test and Interview Resources

For many immigrants, the U.S. citizenship test is the most important test of their lives. Educators can play a critical role in helping students prepare for the exam, whether it’s studying for the civics portion or learning English for the interview with an immigration officer.

The ILC Public Education Institute has compiled this set of resources — including videos, practice questions and teaching strategies — to help you prepare your students for the USCIS Citizenship application, practice test and interview.

Below you will find three featured resources, drawn from some of our favorites, that show the breadth of resources available. Below that, you can browse or search the complete collection by keyword, resource type and student level.

Aspiring citizens who applied before October 20, 2025, will still be tested on the 2008 civics test (100 questions). All other applicants need to study for the 2025 civics test (128 questions). We’ve indicated which materials are relevant for the 2008 version of the test and which are relevant to the 2025 version.
